OA CAMP (29-30 NOV)
the much anticipated camp..
OA CAMP!
to me, it anticipates me because it is a camp planned by the 5 of us (the OA camp committee),
me, vale, wanjing, kangqi and xianying..
tgt with weiyang as the chief trainer and mr wong as the teacher ic..
and the program for the camp is interesting too..
having a REAL campfire finally in sch and bbq too..
alot of camps in sch i've been too is use candles or torchlights de..
dont have the mood for campfire..
so this camp.. is one that i enjoyed..

haha.. didnt bring much to camp.. as it's only a 2d 1n camp..
7++.. went to sch.. on the way, took this photo..

haha.. reached sch.. nt much ppl reached..
as it is still early..
and we just prepared and chatted awhile..
8am.. camp started.. reporting and bag check..

took this while in the canteen.. as i was taking care of the belongings..
aft that den went back to the parade sq..
help out.. confiscate their hps and wallets.. to prevent any thefts.. and nt to distract them..
aft that we went through the camp rules and a short briefing..
nt much ppl came for the camp.. like 40ppl in all only..
felt abit disheartened..
as this is a fun and learning camp.. and nt a torture camp..
and this camp is used to thank each and everyone no matter hw small their contribution is to red cross..
since they dont want to come, we also have no choice anyway..
it's their loss for nt coming..

went to 1t1 classroom.. start oa lesson..

practical 1st.. taught them hw to tie the knots and lashings..
fig of 8 i forgot.. den learnt and taught them on the spot..
bowline was a very challenging one.. alot ppl cnt do..
fisherman knot.. also forgot.. learnt and taught them on the spot too..
den alot of time is used.. think went overtime..
aft that faster teach the square lashing and snake lashing.. taught very fast..
they also didnt try it out..
so we immediately went to the nxt session..

compass lessons.. by weiyang..
as me and wanjing totally forgotten hw to use a compass..
he taught them pacing.. and hw to read the compass..
everything went well..
aft that we gathered them and told them about wad to study for theory and as well as their campfire performances..
we went back to the classroom.. let them revise..

aft that we had outdoor cooking..
gathered them at the carpark while we went up to rc rm to take the necessary items for outdoor cooking..
so they sat in their grps and we sat tgt..
started cooking.. cooked instant noodles and hotdog.. haha
quite nice la =X
aft eating, everyone went to clean up the mess tins and their utensils..
area cleaning.. "if we c any noodle strand on the floor, u all will get it frm us." standard sentence.. haha
gt quite alot of free time.. didnt expect the outdoor cooking to end fast..
so we all just clear up the carpark and rested for awhile..

nxt program.. campfire preparation..
so all the grps went to plan for their performances..
haha.. us too.. the NCOs
we had our retro singing and dancing..
haha.. i was required to sing in a deep voice..
so i went really deep.. den everyone laughed.. haha

aft that, we went to the carpark..
as weiyang taught us hw to set up the campfire structure..
ended quite fast.. so we went back with our campfire preparation..

hmm.. den we really really had nth to do le =X
and rest of them were busy preparing for their performances
so we took photos.. haha







aft that, taught them hw to set up tent..
haha.. den give the grps competition..
compete which grp set up a safe tent in the shortest possible time..
gave them only 7minutes to set up..
gt one grp forgot to tie the strings to the poles..
the flysheet might fly away..
so assisted them..
and while mardhiyah mam is teaching them about the techniques of tent pitching,
i did the tent allocation..
and told them who they will be slping with..

lalala.. finally! the campfire's starting..
while waiting, took this photo..

haha.. one of the grps la.. with meiwei as their grp mentor..
yay yay..
we went to prepare the bbq pit.. while others are waiting and preparing..
we were running around.. taking this and that to set up the bbq pit and the campfire arrangement..
started the charcoals burning..
and mr wong assisted us..
the pit was ready in no time..
we gt nic and singonn to take care of the bbq pits..
and so we gt the campfire started!


vale and preethi were the emcees for the campfire..
so they gt everyone involved..
and we just sing cheers dance chicken dance.. dance father abraham.. etc etc..
and viewed the grps' performance..
haha.. one of the grps poured water on everyone..
bt luckily, the side that we were sitting in, they forgot to pour at us.. wahahahaha xD

finally it's our turn.. the NCOs' performance!
haha.. it's quite short actually la..
so we ended the campfire.. with mr wong's dedication and friendship dance..
" as we walk to the left as we walk to the right.........." haha
gt one funny de.. the "walk" become "sexy".. lols..

aft that, we gt the bbq started..




we were super hungry! so we grabbed food and eat..
the mee goreng was quite spicy.. and the guava squash.. nice!!
so we sat dwn tgt and eat..
chatted.. haha.. den we went to bbq the marshmallows..
i ate quite alot =X
shared sweet potato with joyce..
wa.. it was super hot..
i attempted to peel the skin out.. it's hard..
as it's hot and we were in a dark place..
bt still managed to peel out the skin and eat it.. haha
aft that we sat dwn and chatted tgt again..
vale mentioned that one of our senior's hp gt 1 ghost sighting video.. in chalet de..
so we began to talk about ghosts..
omg.. xinhue shared her friends' exp with us..
until the whole atmosphere was very "ghostly"
gt frightened by peishan.. just by stomping her feet..
and a car.. which we didnt realize that it's coming our way..
ok la.. we were very scared.. until we dont dare to go for a night exploration anymore..

we (the committee) had a debrief with weiyang..
he said about our strengths and weaknesses that the others said about us...... dont want to mention who are they la..
they say the campfire emcees sucks?
WTH! SAY PPL SAY THEMSELVES LA.
THE EMCEES DID SUCH A GD JOB LOR.
SAY WE SLACK? YR HEAD! SINCE WHEN DID U ALL C WE ALL SLACKING?

OK LA. U ALL CAN SCOLD. SCOLD ALL U LIKE. BT THERE ARE LIMITS TO WAD WE CAN DO. WE WANT TO DO, BT WE CNT!
well, still ok la.. he said that they gt even worse comments.. all he rebutt le..
the comments that we gt were hurting enough
imagine hw worse if they all immediately shoot at us.. WTH
bt.. we were really touched that weiyang is backing us up..
we didnt know that he would do such a thing for us..
thought he quite bad de.. bt cnt judge a book by its cover..
nw we know hw gd he is to us.. lols
quite angry.. want shoot den shoot la..
y get another person inside? y must implicate him? duno wth they thinking
bt really, we want to thank weiyang for everything he did for us.. THANK YOU
we are going to give him a treat soon.. haha

den mass debrief with mr wong..
talked about the slping time.. OTOT and so on..
it's a fun camp.. so he did nt want to scold ppl during the camp..
although sometimes he really wanted to scold..

well, there's really sth wrong with the cadets la.. duno y like that
this is meant to be a THANK YOU camp for everyone in rc..
and as well as learning more OA techniques..
enjoy the campfire and the bbq..
yet this is wad we all get? LOW ATTENDANCE RATE?
wth is this? we ard made it very clear that this is a FUN camp. nt a TORTURE camp..
we all ard 低声下气 called all of u up to come.. u all dont want to come, IT'S YR LOSS
and also, we cnt sense any respect frm u all
we are NCOs. nt cadets like u all..
we show respect to all of u.. yet u gave us SHIT!
wth attitude is this? we respect all of u, we also expect yr respect to us..
we all dont want scold u all bt, u all FORCED us to do that
we all as u all qns.. u all didnt give a gd reply..
we are being treated like fools.. keep entertaining u all.. den u all are super cold. excuse me! we are also humans like u!
and the 5 of us almost cried during the 1st and this debrief..
we ard did all we can le.. we have pt all our efforts into managing it..
yet wad u all do is to scold us? very funny is it?
we really felt very disheartened lor. WTH
nvm.. we have to get rid of this problem tgt soon..

okok.. enough.. den went to bathe le..

aft that went to inspect the tents..
initially everyone like slping le.. except the boys' tent
bt one of the tents gt cockroach.. duno came frm where..
which woke everyone up..
we gt rid of it.. with the guys' help..
den everything was settled..
informed that we MUST slp.
we were ard given the permission to stay overnight
yet nw give last minute instructions?
who were the organisers of the camp? us! nt u!
we have the authority lor.. WTH
so we were forced to slp..
and it's nt gd to slp..
although we are slping in the canteen.. there are lots of mosquitoes.. duno y..

gt firedrill somemore.. say no firedrill den suddenly want firedrill.. at 3+ am
好不容易 fell aslp de lor.. den woke up.. go back.. cnt really slp le..
nvm.. so we woke up at about 5.30am.. went to wash up.. and faster gt ready..
so i conducted reporting, water parade along with vale..
and PT along with mr wong..

breakfast.. ate corn flakes with milk..
den all of us went to clear up the place..
kept the tents.. clear the bbq pits..
made the places like before..
accred time.. started with practical..
fig of 8.. fisherman knot.. almost everyone can do it..
bowline.. like only 3 or 4 ppl can do it.. no choice.. lols
lashings.. beginning started to accred a couple of them..
they all like completely duno..
so i just taught them one more time.. slowly..
saw them paying attention and they asked me qns about the lashings..
well, felt very 欣慰 that my effort along with wanjing's and weiyang's effort didnt go to waste..
continued on with the accred..
this time.. they can do it le.. except that they need some help sometimes..
so just assisted them.. tried nt to deduct marks..

went on with theory test..
saw them doing it very seriously.. it's like.. none of them attempted to cheat..
was very happy about that..
and marked their papers..
quite alot fail la.. bt there are still ppl who pass.
it is nt an easy ppr.. i attempted it ytd.. i failed by 2 marks.. =X
so those who can pass very gd le..

we gave them a 5minutes break..
released the results..
go through the qns..
spot careless mistakes..
den we went on to lunch.. a sumptous lunch..
with bee hoon, fishballs, nuggets and hashbrowns.. which only amt to $1.50 per person!
haha.. it's worth the $
along with orange squash..

went on with reaccred.. i'm nt in charge le.. because i was damn tired..
almost fell aslp while eating.. lols..
den just rest in canteen for awhile..
vale, joyce, xinhue and me were planning for the games aft the reaccred..
planned out a treasure hunt..
it was fun la.. c they all running around to find the clues..
aft the game, area cleaning time..
just cleared up everything..

aft that, everyone settled dwn.. packed everything..
and went off..
end of camp for them..

den we stayed back to do more area cleaning and clearing up..
and had a short debrief with mr wong over the phone..
and so, the camp ended.. haha
we had alot of fun x)
